Just wanted to see your guys thoughts on the new SS masters formats. 2 1 day 16 person brackets per weight with top 5 going to state in each for boys, top 4 in each for girls. I see how it could be better in some ways, but could definitely also see one bracket being crazy competitive, and the other being lesser. I am sure we will get more information on how it will work soon. But I wanted to see everyone's thoughts on it. Thanks!

I personal think this is dump. Yes one day less of weigh ins. However if a kid is cutting that much they don’t belong in the weight class. That’s on the coach/parents.
How will the brackets be selected? Will there be a high level bracket and a low level bracket? If so you will see kids that have no business at state.
let’s say the some how even the brackets out. There is now true champion coming out of SS. How will seeding be at state for SS?
yes the old formate is a meat grinder. Yes some high level wrestlers get hurt and knocked out of state. Is that a result of being too tough or too much weight cutting?
go back to 2 days let’s the kids take pride in qualifying/winning the toughest section in the state.
Can I get a link to where this is officially mentione? Ty
This is long over due. This will help secure the SS gets the 10 best wrestlers to the state tournament. The biggest benefit is the 1 day weigh-in. It's bad enough SS wrestlers have to make weight 3 days in a row just 4 days after masters. Coaches Dads responding in 3,2,1 haha
They usually only seed the top 2 anyways and maybe top 3. I think they'll just keep using the same formula they've been using to try to balance out both brackets
Initial thoughts, I am pretty skeptical.
Seeding becomes super important and seeding is rarely perfect. I am wondering what the logic was in making the switch. Anyone on the advisory board want to enlighten us?
